ARMADALE CASTLE, GARDENS & MUSEUM
Beautiful gardens, a magnificent castle ruin, and the award-winning Isles Museum (note: Museum temporarily closed in 2022). Family activities, events, and woodland walks. Armadale, the ‘spiritual home’ of Clan Donald, was once the seat of the Macdonalds of Sleat and is currently managed by a charity trust.
The visitor attraction sits at the heart of a 20,000 acre estate that was once part of the traditional lands of Clan Donald. Following the death of death of Alexander Godfrey MacDonald, 7th Lord Macdonald and High Chief of Clan Donald, the lands were put up for sale in 1971. Clan Donald members all throughout the world formed the Clan Donald Lands Trust to purchase part of these lands and preserve them for future generations to enjoy.
There are also 4 Star self-catering lodges available for rent on the Highland estate
